SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – After leading The Master’s University women’s basketball team to a 23-9 record that included a fifth straight appearance in the NAIA National Tournament, seniors Bianca Cubello and Megan Lindsley have been named to the 2016-17 NAIA Division I Women's Basketball All-America squad for the third straight year.
Cubello (Riverside, CA), a second-team choice for the second year in a row, led TMU in scoring (13.3ppg), fieldgoal percentage (52%), free throws made (111), free throw percentage (81%), rebounding (276, 8.6rpg), blocks (2.2bpg), and steals (39). Scoring in double figures 25 times and pulling down 10 or more rebounds on 10 occasions, Cubello’s campaign was highlighted by a monster game against Our Lady of the Lake (TX) in a first-round national tournament game on March 15 when she posted career-highs of 28 points and 19 rebounds. During the season she surpassed the 1000-career point plateau and is currently No. 9 on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,311 points.
Meanwhile, Lindsley (Vancouver, WA), an honorable mention pick for the third consecutive year, tied for second on the squad in scoring (10.1ppg) and was second with 49 three-pointers. She scored in double figures 17 times, scoring a season-high 21 points at Arizona Christian on December 10, 2016. Lindsley drained a season-high five three-pointers against Arizona Christian in a GSAC Tournament first-round game on March 3. She finished her career as the seventh-leading scorer in school history with 1,345 points.
Cubello and Lindsley are the second and third Mustangs in program history to capture All-American honors three times, surpassed only by four-time choice Lesley DuBois (2000-03). The selections mark the 17th time in the past 19 years that one or more Lady Mustangs have earned All-American honors.
