Mustang duo among nation's most academic

November 27, 2017

On the heels of winning an eighth straight conference title, TMU seniors Alec Franco and Skyler Mikesell made their mark academically both at the Golden State Athletic Conference and NAIA levels.

The NAIA recently named Franco and Mikesell as Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

In order to be nominated, athletes must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must be at least a junior in academic status.

Both runners were also named GSAC-Scholar Athletes after leading their team to a first place finish at the GSAC championships in Rocklin on Nov. 4.

Mikesell crossed 26th at the NAIA National Championships in Vancouver, Washington, on Nov. 18.  The finish was good for All-American honors.
