If The Master’s University men’s basketball team was feeling the effects of an arduous two-game, two-day bus trip Saturday night in Angwin, it didn’t show it, beating host Pacific Union College, 92-74.
Mustang Brock Gardner scored a career-high 27 points on 10-of-11 shooting. Tim Soares followed with 13 points, 14 rebounds and 11 blocks.
Lawrence Russell scored 18 points, and Hansel Atencia scored 16.
A Gardner bucket in the paint gave Master’s a 19-point lead a few seconds into the second half, and the Mustangs (8-1) cruised to their seventh straight wins.
Entering the night, Pacific Union was 0-2 against Golden State Athletic Conference teams. It lost 89-64 to William Jessup in October and 86-54 to Menlo College on Wednesday.
The Mustangs drove 245 miles to Merced on Friday to play UC Merced, winning 82-56, before carrying on another 168 miles north to Angwin, west of Sacramento, to take on Pacific Union.
Master’s will be back home Dec. 8 to play Westcliff University.
